Ana Paula Carvalho

Western Europe Cluster President, Pfizer and Former Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council in Europe (DEICE)

Ana Paula is President for the Western Europe Cluster in Pfizer, responsible for shaping and driving the strategic vision of the region, which comprises 12 countries in Western Europe. She also represents Pfizer as a Member of the Patient Access and European Markets Committees of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Association (EFPIA).

Driven by a passion to deliver life changing medicines to a widely diverse patient population, Ana Paula has over 25 years of regulatory, commercial, and healthcare industry experience, dedicating her career to improving the lives of patients.

Since graduating in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Classical University of Lisbon, Ana Paula continued with her academic studies, completing postgraduate studies in pharmacoeconomics; regulatory affairs; and health care services management.

Embarking on a career in the pharmaceutical industry Ana Paula has since held numerous leadership positions spanning multiple countries, therapeutic areas, and specialities. She was the Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Pfizer Emerging Markets region, overseeing the innovative portfolio in Latin America, Africa/Middle East, Emerging Asia, and China. Most recently, she was Regional President IDM, Pfizer Inflammation & Immunology, responsible for shaping and driving the strategic vision of the region, which comprises more than 50 countries in Europe as well as Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

A people-centered leader, Ana Paula is a strong advocate of diversity and inclusion. She has served as co-chair of the Pfizer European Diversity and Inclusion Council, and was recently awarded a Luminary award from the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) for incredible achievements and contributions to the healthcare industry.

Ana Paula is married to Miguel and has two sons, Gonçalo and Pedro. She lives in Madrid with her husband and their dog BOSS. Ana Paula enjoys hiking, reading, and travelling, which combines the discovery of new places with food with her family.
