Gideon Maltz writes op-ed for Business Insider on Biden’s refugee policy
Tent’s Executive Director, Gideon Maltz, penned an op-ed for Business Insider arguing that the Biden administration’s policy of admitting significantly more refugees to the United States than the previous administration will be good for American businesses – and help sustain the economic recovery after the pandemic.
In light of the administration’s plans to raise the refugee admissions cap to 125,000 in fiscal year 2022, Maltz makes the case that businesses can fill workforce gaps by hiring these new arrivals – a win-win-win for refugees, the U.S. economy, and the businesses that employ them.
Maltz appeals to employers to look to this new talent pool as the economy recovers and sets out the business case for doing so – refugees have the right to work, are more willing to relocate, and stay longer in their jobs.
”No refugee makes it to the U.S. without resilience, strength of character, resourcefulness, and the resolve to overcome innumerable hurdles on their journey to a new home. As a business, isn’t that who you’d want on your team?” writes Maltz.
