Tent’s Gideon Maltz pens op-ed for Quartz on how to “build back better with refugees”
In the lead-up to World Refugee Day 2020, Tent’s Executive Director, Gideon Maltz, has written an op-ed for Quartz addressing the need to better integrate refugees into the economy as the United States looks to “build back better” following the COVID-19 health crisis.
Maltz explains how Covid-19 has exposed the steep barriers that refugees face to economic integration – and the need for businesses and governments to step up and help address these challenges.
In the article, Maltz notes the need for companies to fix their hiring processes, and the need for governments to harness the existing skills of refugees by recognizing their foreign credentials.
“Taking these steps to lower barriers for refugees entering the workforce, and recognizing the training and expertise they bring, is not charity. It’s an investment in our society and economy,” writes Maltz.
