PRESS RELEASE: The Tent Partnership for Refugees Appoints New Global Director of Communications & Marketing

  • As its international operations grow exponentially, Tent bolsters its communications and marketing team to support its work across the Americas and Europe

New York, November 18, 2022 – The Tent Partnership for Refugees (Tent) – a global network of major brands around the world committed to economically integrating refugees in their new communities – announces today Haiwen Lu Langworth as its new Global Director of Communications and Marketing.

She takes over from Veronica Rossini, who was recently promoted to Vice President for Europe, as Tent continues to strengthen its leadership to support its rapid growth. The organization, launched by Chobani founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya in 2016, recently reached the milestone of more than 300 member companies pledging to connect refugees to job opportunities.

With a deep multinational and multicultural background in corporate and consumer communications – both agency and in-house – Haiwen was most recently Vice President of Global Communications and Social Impact at leading global sports media company DAZN Group. There, she guided DAZN from its U.S. launch to worldwide expansion to 200+ markets, throughout which she supported the company’s nonprofit partnerships and led integrated global brand building efforts that included solidifying the company as a recognized global home of sport and game-changer in the advancement of women’s sport. Prior to that, she spent nearly a decade managing key accounts across offices in Asia and North America for international PR agencies Ketchum and Hill & Knowlton.

Haiwen will oversee all of Tent’s communications and marketing efforts, as well as its research and thought leadership, across three continents, seconded by:

  • Crissy Vicendese, recently promoted to Associate Director of Communications and Marketing, based in New York and covering the Americas
  • Philip Kyle, Communications Lead for Europe, who joined Tent in September and is based in France
  • Matt Caines, Research Lead, overseeing all of Tent’s research output and based in the UK

“We are thrilled that Haiwen has joined Tent to lead our global communications and marketing efforts,” said Gideon Maltz, Executive Director at Tent. “This year, the world has seen a dramatic increase in the number of refugees, as they flee countries like Afghanistan and Ukraine. We have seen dozens of businesses across Europe and the Americas step up to help refugees enter the job market and, just this month, we announced that 30 new major companies had joined Tent. Haiwen’s well-rounded experience and skills will be invaluable to support our work to raise Tent’s global profile, reach more companies, and ensure they can make a positive impact on refugees’ lives.”

“I am beyond delighted to be joining Tent at such a crucial time, especially as someone who is a first generation daughter of immigrants through whom I’ve witnessed the transformative power of economic opportunity – sometimes impossible without an intentional dose of external goodwill and long-term vision,” said Haiwen Lu Langworth, Global Director of Communications and Marketing at Tent. “The mission of Tent and its ever-growing coalition of partners is truly life-changing, and I look forward to joining the team in making a meaningful and sustainable difference in the lives of refugees all around the world.”

About the Tent Partnership for Refugees
With more and more refugees displaced for longer periods of time, businesses have a critical role to play in helping refugees integrate economically in their new host communities. The Tent Partnership for Refugees mobilizes the global business community to improve the lives and livelihoods of more than 36 million refugees who have been forcibly displaced from their home countries. Founded by Chobani’s founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya in 2016, we are a network of over 300 major companies committed to including refugees. Tent believes that companies can most sustainably support refugees by leveraging their core business operations – by engaging refugees as potential employees, entrepreneurs, and consumers.
