Tent Partnership for Refugees Celebrates Over 7,500 Women Reached Through Mentorship Across Europe and the Americas

New York, NY – March 7, 2025: Just ahead of International Women’s Day, the Tent Partnership for Refugees (Tent) – an international network of over 400 leading companies committed to integrating refugees into local labor markets – is proud to announce its mentorship programs have impacted the lives of over 7,500 women across Europe and the Americas.
This includes over 4,200 refugee women mentees who have received individualized professional mentorship and more than 3,300 women employed at participating member companies who have served as mentors across Tent’s suite of mentorship programs reaching refugee women, Afghan refugees, Hispanic refugees, and LGBTQ refugees.
Notably, as part of this, Tent’s Refugee Women Mentorship Program in Europe – which launched in November 2021 – has doubled its initial goal of providing 1,250 refugee women with mentorship. Tent is pleased to announce the program has already reached over 2,500 refugee women mentees in Europe with invaluable 1:1 professional guidance and career support from employees at leading companies including adidas, ISS, Pfizer, and Randstad – all of which exceeded their initial target of mentoring 50 refugee women over three years.
“We are so proud to celebrate these milestones on International Women’s Day as well as the thousands of women reached through mentorship to date,” said Alli Casey, Senior Manager for Global Mentorship at Tent. “Complementing Tent’s wider mission of connecting refugees to jobs, our mentorship initiatives are not only a game-changer for refugee women as they look to find meaningful work or advance in their career, they are equally fulfilling for their mentors as they too gain fresh perspectives, build leadership skills, and in many cases develop relationships that last well beyond the length of the program.”
Refugee women too often face a “double disadvantage” when trying to secure employment in their new countries – the common employment barriers all refugees face such as lack of understanding of the local labor market, low local language proficiency, and minimal social and professional networks, but also structural gender inequality including disproportionate childcare and domestic burdens. As a result, refugee women in a number of countries across Europe for example face far lower workforce participation rates compared to native born women, and even lower rates when compared to refugee men.
Tent’s structured mentorship programs aim to help refugee women overcome these challenges through personalized support from a dedicated mentor who champions their career growth and provides guidance on topics such as understanding local job market and workplace norms, crafting an effective resume, practicing for job interviews, growing their professional network, and navigating the systemic challenges that may inhibit their workforce participation.

About the Tent Partnership for Refugees
With more and more refugees displaced around the world, businesses have a critical role to play in helping them integrate economically in their new communities. Tent was launched in 2016 by Hamdi Ulukaya, the CEO and founder of Chobani – a multibillion dollar food company in the U.S. – to mobilize the world’s largest employers to fill this gap. Today, Tent is a network of over 400 major companies committed to helping refugees across eleven countries in the Americas and Europe access local labor markets by helping them become job-ready and connecting them to work.
