PRESS RELEASE: Tent Partnership for Refugees strengthens its leadership as demand for its services increase

  • As Tent’s business network grows to reach 300 companies – including Amazon, Hilton, and Pfizer – the organization is evolving its structure to best fulfill its mission.

New York, October 18, 2022 – Today, the Tent Partnership for Refugees (Tent) – a global network of major companies committed to economically integrating refugees in their new communities – is strengthening its leadership to support its growing expansion across the Americas and Europe.

Launched in 2016 by Hamdi Ulukaya, founder and CEO of Chobani – one of America’s leading food brands – Tent has gone from strength to strength encouraging more leading brands to hire, train, or otherwise include refugees in their workforces.

With Tent’s network reaching 300 major companies across the world, riding the momentum of a successful U.S. Business Summit last month where companies committed to hire over 20,000 refugees – Tent’s new leadership structure will ensure the organization is set up to better serve companies wanting to start and grow their refugee hiring initiatives.

To support Tent’s growth:

  • Scarlet Cronin, formerly Senior Director, Global Partnerships, is promoted to Vice-President for the Americas. Scarlet is supported in her new role by  Yaron Schwartz and Ileana Cruz-Marden, both promoted to Deputy Directors for Americas; Yaron will oversee the United States and Ileana will oversee Latin America. Scarlet will concurrently serve as Vice-President for Global Strategy.
  • Veronica (Noni) Rossini, formerly Global Director of Communications and Marketing, is promoted to Vice-President for Europe. Alongside her, Helene van Melle is promoted to Deputy Director for Europe They will oversee Tent’s expanded presence in seven European countries.

“Over the past year, we have seen an unprecedented outpouring of support from businesses, driven by crises in Afghanistan and Ukraine,” said Gideon Maltz, Executive Director at Tent. “As companies realize that hiring refugees is both good for business and good for their community, demand for our services has continued to increase. Today  we’re thrilled to announce several key internal promotions. These recognize the extraordinary work the team has done to galvanize businesses around supporting refugees, and will ensure we’re set up to work alongside companies to make an even bigger impact on refugees’ lives.”

Today’s announcement comes after Tent announced new hires in Europe, with country directors joining its growing team in France, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK, alongside existing staff in the Netherlands and Germany. As part of its growth efforts, Tent is continuing to hire for roles in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. To find out more about these open positions, visit tent.org/careers/.

About the Tent Partnership for Refugees
With more and more refugees displaced for longer periods of time, businesses have a critical role to play in helping refugees integrate economically in their new host communities. The Tent Partnership for Refugees mobilizes the global business community to improve the lives and livelihoods of more than 36 million refugees who have been forcibly displaced from their home countries. Founded by Chobani’s founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya in 2016, we are a network of over 300 major companies committed to including refugees. Tent believes that companies can most sustainably support refugees by leveraging their core business operations – by engaging refugees as potential employees, entrepreneurs, and consumers.
